Re-entry Program
The Akani Center re-entry program offers services and support designed to assist individuals who are transitioning from incarceration back into society. The program aims to address the various challenges that formerly incarcerated individuals may face as they reintegrate into their communities. The overarching goal is to reduce recidivism rates by providing resources and opportunities for successful reintegration.
At The Akani Center, we offer the following services:
-
Help individuals find job opportunities, provide vocational training, resume building, and interview preparation.
-
Assist individuals in finding stable housing options, which can be a significant challenge for those with a criminal record.
-
Offer educational programs, including GED classes, vocational training, or higher education opportunities to improve skills and increase employability.
-
Provide access to counseling, therapy, and substance abuse treatment programs to address underlying issues that may contribute to criminal behavior.
-
Offer legal aid to help individuals navigate legal issues related to their re-entry, such as probation requirements or expungement of criminal records.
-
Pair individuals with mentors or support groups who can offer guidance, encouragement, and accountability during the reintegration process.
-
Provide assistance with budgeting, financial literacy, and access to banking services to help individuals manage their finances responsibly.
The Akani Center recognizes the complex needs of formerly incarcerated individuals and work to provide comprehensive support tailored to their unique circumstances, with the ultimate aim of promoting successful reintegration and reducing the likelihood of re-offending.
